It is important for all women to do monthly self breast exams after your period, or once a month if you do not have a period, because this may help to detect potential abnormalities early. 

 
Breast exam screenings can include mammograms, which are important screening tests starting at the appropriate age if a woman feels any kind of lump or abnormality or is having unexplained breast pain.
